Carla Ashley
Director
Carla is a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant and has 20 years experience in financial roles.
Within the roles she has worked, she has gained knowledge from different aspects of business. She understands how hard it is for business owners to manage their finances and run a successful business and believes the two things are intrinsically linked. Carla is always looking to advise clients on the most tax efficient way to help them run their business successfully.
Carla has two young boys which means weekends are spent swimming and attending mixed martial art classes. Being the spectator not the participator, until it becomes practice time and then she becomes the punch bag!
Paul White
Managing Director
Paul established APH Accountants Ltd in 2010 and is a Chartered Management Accountant. His extensive experience has seen him own businesses from Pharmaceutical Packaging to Logistics, both employing over 70 staff and turning over in excess of £7 Million. He has also owned a number of smaller successful businesses. He has been working in accounts for nearly 30 years and has a wealth of business knowledge he loves sharing with clients.
He has instilled his ethos throughout the business of ensuring staff give time, support, knowledge, expertise and empathy with all clients who are trying to make their business successful.
Paul loves nothing better than watching Cricket, Football & Boxing and is keen on the odd conspiracy theory too!
Matt Newman
Associate Director
Matt is a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant. Matt has worked in finance for over 15 years with a broad range of businesses over this time in various sectors. This experience has allowed Matt to develop a keen eye across a broad range of business types for tax saving solutions, tax planning and business process & development solutions. He also has an excellent understanding of the “not so exciting” business compliance side of things that will keep you from falling foul in any of these areas.
Away from the accountancy world Matt’s young family keep him on his toes and in any spare time he enjoys playing and watching football as well as many other sports (although mainly watching in the case of the other sports as his F1 driving skills aren’t quite up to scratch!).
Dan Rigby
Senior Accountant
Dan Rigby brings nearly 10 years of experience working in accountancy practices across various sectors. His expertise covers all aspects of accountancy, including VAT, bookkeeping, and tax. Currently on the path to becoming chartered, Dan is dedicated to expanding his knowledge and skills in the field.
Outside of work, Dan enjoys staying active and exploring new hobbies. Recently moving house, he has immersed himself in DIY projects, learning new skills and being all Bob the Builder. In his free time, you can find Dan unwinding in the great outdoors, enjoying camping, hiking, and gardening.
Mike Hutchinson
Semi Senior Accountant
Mike has worked in accountancy since 2016 and is currently studying towards full membership with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT). He has experience across a broad range of accounting functions, including bookkeeping, VAT, and preparation of company accounts.
Mike is known for his hands-on approach and attention to detail, supporting clients with their day-to-day accounting needs.
Outside of work, Mike enjoys keeping active – whether he’s at the gym, on the golf range, or playing football.
Dave Parry
Client Accountant
Dave has worked in Accountancy since 2013 and is a qualified member of the Association of Accounting Technicians.
Dave has covered all aspects of accounts from bookkeeping to Ltd Company accounts and is specialising in tax. Dave is also working towards becoming a Chartered Tax Advisor specialising in Owner Managed Businesses.
Dave is also a keen runner and regularly takes part in running events. He has ambitions of running the London Marathon and also loves football, golf and going to the cinema. Dave is also a film buff and a Star Wars fanatic!
Katy Holmes
Client Accountant
Katy has worked at APH since 2015 and is a qualified Accounting Technician.
Katy is responsible for taking care of all our bookkeeping and VAT registered clients and has comprehensive knowledge of VAT and cloud accounting systems. She has also had the fun job of training a lot of our clients on how to use online accounting software which helps give them a full financial picture of their business, so if you need any help with this Katy is your girl!
Katy has a passion for dance and teaches children In her spare time. She also loves spending time with her family and her 2 dogs.
Karl
Payroll and Admin Officer
Karl is a full AAT Level 4 qualified accountant currently progressing through ACCA Applied Skills, bringing a strong blend of technical expertise, commercial awareness, and practical finance experience to the APH Accountants team.
Karl is known for his analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to build strong client and colleague relationships. His hands-on approach, combined with excellent communication skills and a commitment to continuous professional development, allows him to provide practical, reliable support to businesses of all sizes.
At APH Accountants, Karl strengthens the firm’s commitment to delivering proactive, high-quality accountancy and advisory services to clients across a wide range of industries.
At home Karl has a young son so is busy with home life and his spurious claim to fame is that his grandfather played for Everton alongside Dixie Dean and also managed an England cap!
